As an interpreter, you should be part of a three/four-way conversation with the organisation, the client, and if necessary, the signposting service. The interpreter is there to relay what is being asked by the organisation and for you to interpret the reply from the client. If any forms need completing to make onward referrals, this needs to be completed directly by the organisation via the interpreter. At no point should interpreters be left alone with the client. If you are using an online platform for the interview, we request that yours and the client’s camera is switched off for safeguarding reasons.

We strongly discourage our interpreters to meet the client physically. Thank you for your cooperation.
