Cathrine’s 50K for 50: Running with Purpose for QPCO

This year, one of our incredible supporters is marking her 50th birthday in a truly inspiring way — by running 50 kilometres across 10 Parkruns to raise funds for Queen’s Park Community Organisation.

A Milestone with Meaning

Instead of planning a traditional celebration, Cathrine, a passionate community advocate and Bedford resident, set herself a unique goal: to complete 10 different 5K Parkruns by December — one for every 5 years of her life.

Her challenge, called “Cathrine’s 50K for 50,” isn’t just about fitness. It’s about giving back to the community she’s proud to call home.

“I’ve seen first-hand the impact QPCO has — from food support to youth projects. This challenge is my way of saying thank you and helping to raise funds so they can do even more.”

The Journey So Far

Cathrine has already completed five Parkruns:

  • Bedford
  • Edinburgh
  • Henlow
  • Jubilee Park
  • Irthlingborough

And she’s got five more to go — including Milton Keynes, Stevenage, St Neots, and even Amsterdam! Her final run will take place in December, where she’ll celebrate both completing the challenge and turning 50.

Why It Matters

Every step Cathrine takes helps support our work at QPCO — from community wellbeing programmes and food aid, to youth development, family support, and neighbourhood events.

“Cathrine’s challenge is a beautiful reminder that community starts with people who care — and take action. We are honoured to be part of her journey.”
