🔧This course was curated and is run by one of our staff members who has fled from domestic violence themselves.
🪚The purpose of this project is to empower survivors who will be weary of calling tradespeople once they move back into the community.
🔨Every week, the course covers a different topic, such as changing a lightbulb, assembling furniture, and becoming familiar with household essentials like meters, fuse boxes and boilers. Installing a shelf, a curtain pole and much more!
🔧We provide all equipment and any interpreters required for class members for any language imaginable.
🪚Thank you to the fabulous teacher featured in this video: Melanie Cutler @ewe_neek - & Thank you to @stonewateruk for allowing us to deliver a pilot course of this workshop at one of your fantastic refuges!🫶

An amazing day @stmschoolbedford @stm_sixthform for their cultural day. We brought volunteers, staff and trustees for young people to meet Bedford communities. A very lively event with music, dance, food and lots of colors. We are looking to work further with the school on our youth program! Thanks you to everyone from the QPCO team that attended 🙏#communities #MakingBedfordamoreinclusivetown #weareqpco #youtprogram #workingtogether

Powerful words from Busingye Johnston about what commemorating 30 years since the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi means to him.
Remember, Reunite and Renew
Over a million Tutsi were killed in a period of 100 days. Mass graves are still being found in Rwanda today.
This 30th commemoration event of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi is the first instalment of our new “Back To Our Roots” #b2or project, bringing awareness to the unrepresented genocide.
In this project, we will bring survivors’ testimonies to local schools to educate the younger generations about this all-too-often forgotten piece of history.
We learn about our history to acknowledge and learn from it so as not to repeat the past.
Remember, Reunite and Renew.
-Thank you to the Rwandan High Commissioner for your attendance @rwandainuk -Thank you to the Rwandan community for your attendance. -Thank you @thehigginsbedford for hosting us. -Thank you @bedfordboroughcouncil for raising the Rwandan flag for us. -Thank you @flavourfeast.01 for supplying wonderful traditional food.
