This initiative is made possible through support from The Living Well Fund, managed by the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation (BLCF) in partnership with Cadent.
Every Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, we open our doors at the Bhagwan Valmik Mandir Community Centre, 10–12 Bunyan Road, Bedford, MK42 9JB, to provide a free, inclusive, and supportive Welcoming Space for the community. The sessions are delivered by dedicated volunteers from Bhagwan Valmiki Sabha Bedford and staff from QPCO, ensuring a warm, friendly environment for all who attend.
Launched on 27th January, the Welcoming Space was created in response to the cost-of-living crisis, high energy costs, and increasing social isolation. Our mission is to support mature and isolated Punjabi residents, newcomers, and vulnerable families—especially after school and during holidays—by offering a safe space for nourishment, learning, and social connection.
We aim to bridge communities, promote wellbeing, and offer practical support through a range of services and activities for both adults and children. No booking is required—just turn up and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, light refreshments, and meaningful engagement.
We also offer tailored-made session, click on the link below for more information:

In just a few short months, the Welcoming Space has begun to establish itself as a vital community hub, responding to local needs with flexibility, compassion, and creativity. Our May half-term session gave us a powerful glimpse into what’s possible when a vision becomes reality, and it’s inspired us to expand our goals and deepen our impact.
We are especially proud of the volunteers from Bhagwan Valmiki Sabha Bedford, whose tireless efforts and community spirit help make every Wednesday a success. Together with QPCO staff, they are building a space that uplifts, educates, and connects.
We look forward to welcoming you every Wednesday – whether you’re seeking support, community, or simply a place to feel at home.
