Punjab Group

The Punjab Group is a community-led initiative designed to support the needs of Punjabi residents in Bedford. Its main aims are to create a safe and welcoming space for elderly individuals experiencing isolation, promote health and well-being for both men and women through NHS-led workshops, and provide support and resources for young people within the community.

The group runs a weekly welcoming space every Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bhagwan Valmik Mandir Community Centre, 10–12 Bunyan Road, Bedford, MK42 9JB. This inclusive space is delivered in partnership with volunteers from the Bhagwan Valmiki Sabha Bedford and staff from QPCO. Each week, visitors can take part in a variety of engaging activities for both adults and children, such as crochet, painting, and air-dry clay building. No booking is required; everyone is welcome to drop in at any time.

Facilities include:

  • Carpeted play area for children under 5
  • Board games, puzzles, and arts & crafts materials (colouring, drawing, sticking)
  • Accessible disabled toilets
  • Baby changing station
  • Access to a secure outdoor courtyard
  • Free parking at Morrisons (a short walk away)
