We were approached by @bedfordcreativearts_ as they wanted to work with some of the community groups that we work with in order to deliver their Community Portrait Exhibition. First project: They came and delivered a 6-week workshops at the Romanian community group that ran last year at the Faraday centre. Local photograph @chichi76.myreflection delivered the project. Second project: We partly funded Women International Day in March 2023. This event was organised by 3 main groups ILearn Bedford, The Khush Haal women group and the women at Bhagwan Valmiki Sabha Bedford. @bedfordcreativearts_ took portrait of the ladies who attended the event. If you want to see more, the exhibition will run from 28 September 2024 to 23 February 2025, at the Sir William Harpur Gallery, @thehigginsbedford #CommunityEngagement #weareqpco

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the sudden departure of Joanne over the weekend, a pillar of Kenya Community in Bedford and Surrounding areas and mother of June Kuria Juney June , our dear friend and colleague. Joanne was a friend and fantastic supporter of our charity. She will be dearly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and the many people in the wider community whose lives Joanne touched. ‘May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten’ Julie Hebert

🔧This course was curated and is run by one of our staff members who has fled from domestic violence themselves.
🪚The purpose of this project is to empower survivors who will be weary of calling tradespeople once they move back into the community.
🔨Every week, the course covers a different topic, such as changing a lightbulb, assembling furniture, and becoming familiar with household essentials like meters, fuse boxes and boilers. Installing a shelf, a curtain pole and much more!
🔧We provide all equipment and any interpreters required for class members for any language imaginable.
🪚Thank you to the fabulous teacher featured in this video: Melanie Cutler @ewe_neek - & Thank you to @stonewateruk for allowing us to deliver a pilot course of this workshop at one of your fantastic refuges!🫶

An amazing day @stmschoolbedford @stm_sixthform for their cultural day. We brought volunteers, staff and trustees for young people to meet Bedford communities. A very lively event with music, dance, food and lots of colors. We are looking to work further with the school on our youth program! Thanks you to everyone from the QPCO team that attended 🙏#communities #MakingBedfordamoreinclusivetown #weareqpco #youtprogram #workingtogether
