A fantastic day in Bedford to learn more about Polish history and heritage! With delicious food and music.

An amazing event not to be missed, with food, dance, culture and atmosphere!

As we continue to remember the Holocaust yearly, we also remember other subsequent Genocides. We need remember over one million Tutsis who were murdered in one hundred day. The Rwandan Community in Bedford, Higgins Bedford and Queen’s Park community organisation have joined forces to organise the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Genocide Against the Tutsis in Rwanda. Bedford resident and Survivor, Chantal Uwamahoro, who might have heard recently on BBC radio 4, has dedicated her life to tell her story by giving lectures, talk and assemblies in schools and many public places. This event is the opportunity to come and meet survivors and the community and listen to their stories
A chance to meet and greet member of the D/Hard of Hearing community and their charity Access Bedford!
We are delighted to be supporting the open day King’s Oak Primary School with children activities. If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, please get in touch admin@qpco.org.uk or call 07824035000. #partnerworking #farmday #educationforall

The feedback we have had from the deaf and hard of hearing community in Bedford is that not many businesses are able to communicate via BSL in Bedford town centreand we wanted to change that trend. Our aim is to enable as many people as possible to gain some knowledge of British Sign Language to help support the Deaf and hard of hearing community, and ensure they feel more welcome/comfortable using our town centre shops and services. To do this we will also be organising a deaf awareness day on the Sunday 12th May between 2 to 4pm at the Harpur suite in Bedford Town centre. More
information to follow.

The course is open to everyone; you might be an employee of a business in town or a business owner, you could be working for a charity or a statutory body, working for Bedfordshire Police or you just want to learn BSL to help people to feel more included, as long as you interact with Bedford town, this is the course for you!
We ask that you only book if you can commit to all six weeks of classes, in order to get the most from this opportunity. Spaces are limited and will be filled on first come first serve basis. Please find attached the flyers. Please note that you can park for free at the Allhallows car park, Brace St, Bedford MK40 1LX. It is only a short walking distance to both the venues.

Get ready to celebrate diversity at Biddenham International Culture Day on April 17th! Dress up in your traditional clothing and experience a day full of fun activities. From curated food stalls to diverse performances. Interfaith workshops to mehndi, there’s something for everyone![]()

To take part, a £1 contribution is required via ParentPay or in person on the day. All funds raised will go to @qpcobedford. A local grassroots charity targeting the most deprived areas in Bedford. Helping to empower local people to make a difference by building bridges between communities.

🍀💚 HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY! 💚🍀
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us in Harpur Square on Sunday for our St Patrick’s Day Celebration! 🇮🇪✨
Despite the windy weather, the square was filled with music, dancing, and community spirit. It was wonderful to see so many people staying to enjoy the live performances and celebrate Irish culture together.
🎶 A huge shoutout to our fantastic musicians who brought the sounds of Ireland to Bedford: The Castle Session Band / Sheryl Hunter / The Black and Gold / The Also-Rans
💃 A round of applause for the brilliant dancers from Stuart Irish Dance, who brought incredible energy to the square!
🎨 Inside the Harpur Suite, visitors explored our Bedford Irish History and Heritage exhibition, featuring beautiful artwork created by participants from Luton Irish Forum and wonderful poems written by pupils from St Thomas More Secondary School and Sixth Form, created during a creative workshop led by writer and community artist Sarah Turner.
🎉 We were delighted to welcome Tom Wootton, Mayor of Bedford, Mr Ismail Anilmis, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, John Tizard, Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Noelette Hanley, CEO of Luton Irish Forum, and Martin Bonner, Headteacher of St Thomas More Secondary School and Sixth Form to the celebrations.
🍽️ A special thank you to Sean O’Donnell and The Kings Arms for serving traditional Irish dishes, along with all the fantastic stalls that helped create the lively atmosphere in the square, including Fealy’s Irish Bakery, Haven Food, Mon’s Creative Facepainting, The Stirrup Bar, and The Co-op Kempston.
👏 We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring the event to life. Especially our organisers Samantha Hughes and Rich Taylor, our volunteers, performers, partners, and community groups who worked so hard behind the scenes.
