Bangladeshi Heritage Day – Saturday 18th April 2026

QPCO is proud to support Bangladeshi Heritage Day in partnership with Ilearn Bedford as part of our Back to Our Roots campaign.

The event commemorates the historic declaration of independence of Bangladesh on 26 March 1971, when the people of Bangladesh began their Liberation War for freedom, dignity and self-determination. The struggle that followed was marked by immense courage, resilience and sacrifice — a legacy that continues to inspire generations across the world.

This year’s celebration is centred around the theme “Asha” (আশা) – Hope. The theme reflects the enduring strength of the Bangladeshi community while looking forward to a future built on unity, opportunity and cultural pride.

Bangladeshi Heritage Day will bring together members of the community to honour history, celebrate cultural identity and recognise the contributions of the Bangladeshi community in Bedford. Through reflection, storytelling and shared celebration, the event highlights the importance of preserving heritage while inspiring future generations.

As part of our Back to Our Roots campaign, this event supports our wider mission to celebrate cultural heritage, amplify community voices and strengthen connections between past, present and future.

More details about the programme will be announced soon.
